ROLLO ADAMS
Rollo Adams has been coaching for about twenty years.  When you ask him why he coaches, it is always about the love of the game.

Much of that love goes way back to his childhood.  He may not be proud of it, but his love began when he would just go out in the yard of
his childhood home and hit rocks with a stick.  He broke a few windows in his time, but the neighbors seemed to understand, and his
Mama had to make good.

Rollo became a more serious ballplayer when he played for Merced High School from 1971-1975.  Coach Dick Juarez took the time to
groom the young player into a young man who understood that there would be a time when he should give back.

From High School, he went on to play at Fresno City College from 1976 thru 1977.  In 1977 he was drafted 10th round by the Minnisota
Twins.

From the JC, he transferred to San Diego State in 1978.  And eventually played for Southern California College in 1980. That was the
year he was drafted in the 5th round by the San Francisco Giants.

Rollo signed with the Giants and reached the Double A level in that organzation.

Rollo started coaching as an Assistant Coach at Sacramento City College in 1983. Rollo was also the head coach for the Elk Grove
Legion in 1983.

When Rollo moved back to his home town in 1991, he wanted to give back to the community which had been his home.  He wanted to be
involved with the sport he loved.  He assisted the coach at Merced High from 1991-1993, and moved to assist the coach at Golden
Valley High School from 1994-2003.  He also helped coach at Los Banos High School in 2005.

In 1994, he was offered the head coaching position for the American Legion baseball Program, and has been coaching the Merced
Volunteers until present.

His success record has been exciting.  He has taken his teams to State on numerous occassions and won the American Legion Baseball
State title in 2005, 2007, and 2008.  His American Legion Baseball win/loss record is 401 wins, 224 losses, and 1 tie.  But, even he has
had to admit that he has had a little help from some fantastic players.
